Congressman Hamadeh and Congresswoman Lee Introduce Bipartisan VA Medical Center Facility Transparency Act

December 22, 2025

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Abe Hamadeh (R-AZ-08) and Congresswoman Susie Lee (D-NV-03) have introduced the VA Medical Center Facility Transparency Act, as part of their ongoing commitment to provide bipartisan solutions for our nation’s veterans.

The VA Medical Center Facility Transparency Act will help Congress better understand the strengths and weaknesses of VA facilities and respond more effectively to their needs.

“I am proud to say that my district is home to Luke Air Force Base and well over 50,000 veterans. This bill will allow me, and my colleagues to better assess the strengths and weaknesses of VA medical facilities they utilize in order to take appropriate action to improve the care our veterans are entitled to,” stated Congressman Hamadeh. “It’s my honor to introduce the VA Medical Center Transparency Act, which should elevate the quality-of-care veterans receive, with my colleague Congresswoman Susie Lee.”

“As Congresswoman, one of my highest duties is ensuring that veterans who have served our country receive the care and benefits that they have earned. My office has been instrumental in ensuring that veterans receive the utmost care in a timely manner. This bipartisan bill will increase transparency in the management and operation of the VA by giving policymakers the information they need,” said Congresswoman Lee.

Congressman Hamadeh’s predecessor, Debbie Lesko, introduced similar versions of the bill with Congresswoman Lee in previous legislative sessions with the support of VFW (Veterans of Foreign Wars).  Congressman Hamadeh’s version adds a three-year sunset, so Congress can judge the policies’ effectiveness before any reauthorization.

Earlier this year, the U.S. House of Representatives unanimously passed Congressman Abe Hamadeh’s bipartisan bills, the Edith Nourse Rogers STEM Scholarship Opportunity Act and the Health Professionals Scholarship Program (HPSP) Improvement Act of 2025, which will assist veterans by increasing their access to education and healthcare services.

BACKGROUND:

The Edith Nourse Rogers STEM Scholarship Opportunity Act legislation will assist veterans in their pursuit of degrees in science, health care and technology by removing the requirement that applicants must exhaust their Post 9-11/GI Bill benefits before they can apply.

The Health Professionals Scholarship Program (HPSP) Improvement Act of 2025 will alleviate the Veterans Health Administration staffing shortages by directing the Secretary of the Department of Veterans' Affairs to ensure HPSP participants receive a full-time employment contract with the VHA no later than 90 days after completing their training and obtaining necessary licensure.
