Washington, D.C.—  Congressman Abe Hamadeh (AZ-08) is urging the U.S. Senate to finally pass the Safeguard American Voter Eligibility (SAVE) America Act after the House advanced it by attaching its key provisions to both the NDAA and Budget Resolutions. 

As part of the House Budget Resolution and consideration of H.R. 8800, the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2027, the House adopted a special rule directing that the text of the SAVE America Act be added to the legislation at engrossment, ensuring that it’s pushed to the Senate alongside one of Congress's most important legislative packages. The action comes after the House's continued commitment to protecting election integrity after previously passing the SAVE America Act in February 2026. 

The SAVE America Act requires voters to present valid ID when voting in federal elections, verifying proof of citizenship. The vast majority of Americans support voter ID laws, with 97 percent of Republicans, 84 percent of Independents, and 53 percent of Democrats in support, according to Gallup polling.

Congressman Hamadeh applauds Speaker Mike Johnson for his leadership in utilizing all available legislative avenues to prioritize election integrity and ensure the voices of American voters remain protected.

“Election integrity is essential to protecting the voice of the American people and preserving our Constitutional Republic. Our elections should be decided by only American citizens with every lawful ballot protected,” said Congressman Abraham J. Hamadeh. “I am proud to support the SAVE America Act. The Senate must stop delaying action and join the House in defending the integrity of our elections and protecting the sacred right of American citizens to vote.”

Congressman Hamadeh believes every eligible American citizen deserves confidence that federal elections are conducted fairly, transparently, and in accordance with the law.

The Safeguard American Voter Eligibility (SAVE) America Act was introduced by Congressman Chip Roy (R- TX) and requires proof of US citizenship for registration to vote in federal elections. The legislation passed the House on February 11, 2026.
