Congressman Abe Hamadeh Celebrates Victory in China Daily Ban with House Leadership

March 14, 2025

Washington, D.C. – Congressman Abraham J. Hamadeh (AZ-08) has reached a significant achievement in his quest to safeguard the People’s House from foreign propaganda. His historic resolution—H.Res.110—has led to quick action through an announcement by House Administration Committee ChairmanBryan Steil (WI-01) and Rep. John Moolenaar (MI-02), Chairman of the Select Committee on the Chinese Communist Party.

This decisive move bans the distribution of China Daily and other Chinese Communist Party (CCP) controlled publications in House facilities, thus stopping them from using taxpayer’s money to spread propaganda through the guise of news.

Congressman Hamadeh’s resolution, which he sponsored as his first bill in the 119th Congress (H.Res.110), aimed to prevent the Chief Administrative Officer from accepting or distributing China Daily and other similar CCP-controlled materials in House facilities and to prevent their delivery through the internal House mail systems. It’s personal for him—he believes Congress should be a place where Americans’ voices shine, not a stage for a hostile regime like the CCP.

“I am very much appreciative to Chairmen Rep. Bryan Steil and Rep. John Moolenaar for their response and for acting on my suggestion quickly to make it a reality,” said Congressman Hamadeh. “As I have said before, there are no circumstances under which the halls of Congress should ever become the domain of foreign propaganda, and from a hostile regime like the Chinese Communist Party. For too long, China Daily and other CCP papers have been able to establish a direct link to our institutions and been delivered freely to House offices. But there are no more free passes for the CCP in the People’s House. This is a victory for the American people, and I am proud that my idea was implemented with the support of my colleagues.”

“Chinese propaganda has no place in the halls of Congress. In coming weeks, China Daily will no longer be circulated by National News to House offices,” stated Chairman Steil. “There is no room for foreign influence in the People’s House. I thank Rep. Hamadeh for bringing this issue to the Committee’s attention and I appreciate National News’s swift work on this matter.”

Congressman Hamadeh’s resolution has garnered significant support from 20 of his colleagues in the fight against foreign influence. The original cosponsors include: Reps. Burgess Owens (UT-4), Brandon Gill (TX-26), Randy K. Weber (TX-14), Troy E. Nehls (TX-22), David Taylor (OH-2), Rep. Eric Burlison (MO-7), Rep. Mike Haridopolos (FL-8), Robert J. Wittman (VA-1), Darin LaHood (IL-16), Lance Gooden (TX-5), Joe Wilson (SC-2), Gregory Steube (FL-17), Darrell Issa (CA-48), and Derek Schmidt (KS-2). The additional cosponsors are Reps. Gary J. Palmer (AL-6), James R. Baird (IN-4), Young Kim (CA-40), Michael Lawler (NY-17), Sheri Biggs (SC-3), and John W. Rose (TN-6).
