We Must Stop Insider Trading

stocks

I didn't come to Washington, D.C. to get rich. Sadly, I can't say the same for some of my colleagues on both sides of the political aisle.

That's exactly why I voted for the bipartisan Stop Insider Trading Act. This legislation bans members of Congress from buying individual stocks while in office and also brings more transparency to stock trading.

The Stop Insider Trading Act is described by the New York Post as the, "most significant attempts to police and stamp out the risk of insider trading by lawmakers since the passage of the Stop Trading on Congressional Knowledge (STOCK) Act in 2012.

No more using insider knowledge for personal gain.

Public service should be about serving the people, not padding personal portfolios.

Securing Our Border - Promoting Trade

port

I was really proud to join Congressmen Juan Ciscomani and Greg Stanton in the bipartisan effort to modernize the DeConcini Port of Entry.

This effort is described by Congressman Ciscomani as "a once-in-a-generation opportunity to deliver for Arizona."

Not only will the modernization strengthen security, but it will also expand a gateway for trade with Mexico.

In our letter, Congressmen Ciscomani, Stanton, and I called on federal officials to expedite the next phase of the project, including issuing a Notice to Proceed for the required environmental review.

We stressed that modernization delays not only impact border personnel but also disrupt business operations that depend on timely trade and transportation.

ICYMI: Supporting Our Troops Means More Than Saying 'Thank You'

troops

America asks extraordinary things of the men and women who volunteer to defend our nation. They spend birthdays away from their children, holidays overseas, and willingly place themselves in harm's way so the rest of us can live in freedom.

The least we can do is ensure they can afford to raise a family, build a career after military service, and continue contributing to America's strength long after they hang up the uniform.

That is exactly what I have been fighting to accomplish in Congress.
