A Path Forward

roundtable

This week, I joined my Republican Study Committee colleagues to emphasize the urgent need to stop government fraud that is undermining our social welfare system and allowing taxpayer money to fall into the hands of scammers.

The Daily Wire's investigative reporter, Luke Rosiak, joined us. He exposed the fraud in his "Medicaid Millionaires" investigation and showed how some of these scams work.

Fraudsters are stealing billions of Medicaid and Medicare dollars through full-scale money laundering schemes. They are stealing from programs meant for seniors, vulnerable families, and Americans with disabilities.

Did You Know?

The Biden Administration’s Record on Fraud:

• Biden's Medicare and Medicaid programs lost more than $100 billion to improper payments in fiscal year 2023 alone

• That's 43% of all government-wide improper payments…the scale of this crisis is staggering and should be concerning to the American public

This is the level of fraud we’re talking about:

• Fraudsters billed Medicare $4 billion for urinary catheters that were never delivered to patients

• Federal audits identified up to $600 million in potentially improper Medicaid payments for autism services across multiple states.

As my colleague Congressman Michael McCloud said, "We measure effectiveness by how much money goes out the door, not whether it's going where it was intended."
That has to change.

Because my family had to rely on food stamps during a difficult year in my youth, I understand how crucial this assistance is. But now, due to fraud and negligence, this safety net is under threat. House Republicans are addressing waste to secure these benefits for American families.
