Congressman Abe Hamadeh Introduces Resolution to Ban CCP Propaganda from House Facilities
Congress should NOT be a bulletin board for foreign adversaries
Washington, D.C. – Congressman Abe J. Hamadeh introduced a resolution today to put an end to the distribution of Chinese Communist Party-controlled propaganda in House facilities. This measure ensures that foreign adversaries cannot use taxpayer-funded government buildings to push propaganda under the guise of news.
“The halls of Congress should never serve as a platform for foreign propaganda, especially from a hostile regime like the Chinese Communist Party,” said Congressman Hamadeh. “For years, China Daily and other CCP-backed publications have been distributed freely in House offices, giving the CCP an unchecked pipeline into our institutions. That ends now. No more free passes for the CCP in the People’s House.”
The resolution prohibits the Chief Administrative Officer from accepting or distributing China Daily and similar CCP-controlled publications within House facilities and blocks the use of internal House mail systems to deliver these materials. While Members and staff will retain private access to such publications if they choose, the measure ensures that taxpayer-funded resources will not be used to further Beijing’s messaging.
Congressman Hamadeh thanks the original co-sponsors of the bill for standing up against foreign influence in our institutions.
“Standing up to the CCP’s influence operations is a bipartisan national security priority,” Hamadeh says. “I’m grateful to my colleagues who are joining this effort to close an open door the CCP should have never had in the first place.”
“We cannot allow a foreign dictatorship to use America’s legislative buildings to push their propaganda,” Hamadeh concluded. “Congress must take a firm stand against the CCP’s disinformation campaigns. This is about protecting our institutions, our national security, and the integrity of the People’s House.”
Why This Resolution Matters -
- Congress should NOT be a bulletin board for foreign adversaries. Allowing CCP-controlled propaganda in House facilities legitimizes a hostile regime’s influence operations and undermines public trust in our government.
- This measure does NOT prevent Members from accessing these materials privately. It does ensure the U.S. government does not assist in their distribution.
