Congressman Hamadeh Commends President Trump’s Decision to Lift Sanctions on Syria

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Congressman Abraham Hamadeh (AZ-08) commends President Donald Trump’s suspension of the United States’ sanctions against Syria in the continuing effort to normalize relations in the Middle East.

President Trump expressed his commitment to give the people of Syria, who have suffered for so long, “a chance at greatness." 

“President Trump’s bold decision to lift sanctions on Syria marks a historic step toward advancing peace through strength in the Middle East,” stated Congressman Hamadeh. “By working with key partners like Saudi Arabia and Qatar, removing sanctions lays crucial groundwork for a broader regional realignment—one that builds on the promise of the Abraham Accords and puts American leadership back at the center of global diplomacy.”

“Stability in Syria is not just a regional concern—it’s a strategic imperative,” explained Congressman Hamadeh. “This action opens the door for progress, reconciliation, and long-term security, all without sacrificing American strength or values. I fully support President Trump in this effort to bring our allies together and help chart a new course for peace in the region.”

In his message of hope for peace and stability, President Trump stated, “Far too many American presidents have been afflicted with the notion that it's our job to look into the souls of foreign leaders and use US policy to dispense justice for their sins ... It is God's job to sit in judgment — my job is to defend America and to promote the fundamental interests of stability, prosperity, and peace."
