U.S. Rep. Hamadeh Welcomes President Trump’s Decisive Action Against Houthi Terrorists

March 15, 2025

WASHINGTON DC - Congressman Abraham J. Hamadeh stands with President Donald J. Trump and his bold announcement today, in which President Trump ordered the U.S. military to "launch decisive and powerful Military action against the Houthi terrorists in Yemen."

One of Rep. Hamadeh's first acts in Congress was to introduce H.R. 1250, a bill that would require sanctions against all officials and affiliates of Ansar Allah—commonly known as the Houthis—for their acts of international terrorism.

Congressman Hamadeh couldn’t agree more with President Trump’s decision, who rightly noted in his announcement of the airstrikes that the Houthis "have waged an unrelenting campaign of piracy, violence, and terrorism against American, and other, ships, aircraft, and drones."

Rep. Hamadeh, a former U.S. Army Reserve Intelligence Officer, knows first-hand the ravages committed by the Houthi terrorists from his service time in Saudi Arabia. During his deployment in 2020-2021, then-Cpt. Hamadeh was on the ground when the Houthis conducted multiple high-profile attacks against civilian Saudi Arabian and coalition targets in the Gulf.

An ardent supporter of President Trump's Peace Through Strength agenda, Congressman Hamadeh shares the assessment that former President Joe Biden was "pathetically weak," thus allowing the "unrestrained Houthis" to continue their terrorist activities.

Although President Trump designated the Houthis as a Foreign Terrorist Organization (FTO) in his first term, the Biden-Harris Administration recklessly removed the FTO designation from the Houthis in 2021, leading to an escalation in attacks across the region.

On January 22, 2025, President Trump signed an Executive Order re-designating the Houthis as an FTO—and Congressman Hamadeh introduced H.R. 1250 to help President Trump codify that designation into law.

Congressman Hamadeh, who serves on the House Armed Services Committee, has argued that the Biden administration's decision to remove the FTO designation from the Houthis has not only emboldened the Houthis - but their backer, the Islamic Republic of Iran.

“The Biden-Harris Administration’s reckless foreign policy put American lives at risk across the region, especially in the Red Sea, where shipping and trade is at a standstill. This weakness led to the October 7 massacre, and the kidnapping of numerous Americans,” said Rep. Hamadeh.

“President Trump is right to act without delay in order to restore global stability,” added Congressman Hamadeh.
